What you share in counselling is private and confidential. This means information discussed in your sessions will not be shared with others without your consent, except in certain circumstances where I have a legal or professional responsibility to do so.
There are some limits to confidentiality, including when:
There is a serious and immediate risk of harm to you or someone else.
There are concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child or vulnerable person.
Information is required by law or a court order.
You provide consent for information to be shared, such as with your GP or another health professional involved in your care.
Where possible, I will talk with you before sharing information and involve you in decisions about what is shared and with whom.
Your privacy matters. Counselling is a space where you can speak openly, safely and without judgement.
